CEZ is taking next step in its way to Smart Grid

CEZ is taking next step in its way to Smart Grid

ADD Grup’s distributor for Czech Republic – TRANSTECH CZ a.s., as one of the five  partners in the Consortium lead by Hewlett-Packard,  will take part in the development of the Smart Grid Project for CEZ in the Czech Republic.

AMI technologies deployment is a strategic feature of the “FUTUR/E/MOTION” (www.futuremotion.cz) - a program that involves all of the latest innovations in smart metering.  This program is the CEZ’ follow-up on the smart future deployments applied within the European Union. The smart technologies are supposed to settle the foundation stone in the first smart grid concept that is to be implemented in Czech Republic by means of CEZ’ investments. The trials of smart technologies implementations will take place in special environment, coordination being exercised by the Consortium, during the first phase of the project. In the aftermath, the actual installation of the AMI technology will deploy at sites of distribution, comprising 40.000 households set mainly in Vrchlabi.

"This project is important for us in terms of testing the technologies and innovations that represent the next evolutionary step on the path to the power of the 21st century. Functioning verification of the smart meters is the first step towards a future concept of intelligent networks, the Smart Grids," said Milan Špatenka, Director of ČEZ Distribution Development Department.

ADD GRUP, through its Czech partner, TRANSTECH CZ a.s., will provide for the Project a significant share of meters of the total amount of items, more than 40% or 17 to 18 thousands pieces. The meters will be of the latest, 7-th version of ADDAX and all of the meters will be equipped with PLC modems and will transmit the data based on the open protocols that will allow interoperability with other suppliers involved in the project.

Timeline of the project

  • 06/2010-03/2011: testing operations of the AMM technology, app. 400 pieces
  • 04/2011-12/2011: installations in three selected regions of the distribution network, app. 41 thousand pieces
  • 12/2011-12/2013: pilot operation of the AMM technology
